Sarah Dupree is a Louisiana based multidisciplinary artist using abstraction to explore the divine through subconscious exploration. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and was brought home to a large loving Christian family in the United States. Currently Sarah is working on a body of work titled “Echos in the Dreamscape.” This collection was first featured in her BFA show and then less than a year later was shown under the title “Dream Haze” at the Creative’s at Work Art Gallery in Downtown Ruston, La. Her collection continues to grow and travel, as it will be featured in the Mental Health Gallery in Baton Rouge, La in March 2025.
Artist Statement:
My work explores how the subconscious can evoke divine experiences and reveal insights about mental, social, and political issues to foster cultural wellness. Through abstract paintings and drawings, I invite viewers to delve into their beliefs, sparking discussions for collective unity. Inspired by Surrealists, I use automatism techniques with graphite and oil mediums to create a meditative flow as an avenue for visual expression. This process serves as a bridge between conscious actions and subconscious experience, encouraging introspection and societal dialogue while nurturing my own mental and spiritual growth.
