Today I worked on making designs for the ads I will use to promote my vendor booth on Thursday night this week. I also decided to play with some poetry that I have been working on. I have tons of photos that I'm sitting on from old photoshoots, ones I never thought could be used, but I decided to try chopping them up in photoshop before discarding them completely. I ended up taking a severely underexposed photo and tinkered it's levels, added a few other filters and fashioned a usable photo. I pasted in some poetry and boom, a design. At least I hope. The drawing on the poem took some extra effort as it's technically part of my Meditation Series in pen and ink. I believe I drew this particular composition while listening to Elvis Presley's Gospel Treasury. I recently discovered a slew of estate sales near me and now have a new bundle of cassette tapes, Elvis was one of those finds.
Drawing to music has been one of my favorite processes so far. Music in general is another of my numerous hobbies. Cassette tapes, vinyl, and CD's all have such a unique way of giving the listener an intimate experience, so I have a decent collection. With it I can study, a little closer, the how, what, and why to the Art of the Album Cover. I think that's what interests me most in design right now, so I think my advertisements and visual compositions will follow the logic and hierarchies seen in Music Design.
